This week, one of my bills, HB392, Unlicensed Driver Amendments, has received media attention throughout Utah. This bill seeks to resolve a major problem in West Valley City, where nearly 50% of serious car accidents involve unlicensed drivers. The issue is compounded by the fact that drivers who receive citations for driving without a license are currently able to drive off anyway, risking themselves and other Utahns on the road. This new bill would require law enforcement to impound cars driven by unlicensed drivers.
My goal with HB392 is not to penalize one community but rather to address a growing public safety concern—for all our residents.
We're making great progress in the Legislature, and with only a few weeks to go, I'm committed to pushing forward policies that ensure a brighter future for District 26 and the great state of Utah.
Thank you for your continued support, encouragement, and feedback!
