2025 General Session: Week 7

Hello, District 26!

As we reach the final week of the 2025 General Legislative Session, I want to take a moment to reflect on our work and share what’s ahead. Over the past 45 days, I’ve worked to advance policies that strengthen our communities, improve government transparency, and support working families. With the final votes cast, I’m proud to say that our district’s priorities were well represented in the decisions made at the Capitol.

Week 7 Legislative Update

One key victory this session was the passage of HB294, Infectious Disease Procedures Amendments, which will now become law. This bill requires accommodations for people who are diagnosed with a mental, emotional, or medical condition that would cause undue distress while wearing a face mask.

This year, we also made major investments in education, including:

  • $1,400 direct salary increase for educators
  • $1,000 bonus for education support staff
  • 4% funding increase to help school districts raise pay for all employees
  • Tens of millions of dollars for educator professional time, career and technical education (CTE) programs, teacher supplies, and student teacher stipends

These efforts build on years of investment in education, reinforcing Utah’s standing as one of the best places for teachers to work and students to learn.

While the legislative session is coming to a close, my work on behalf of District 26 is far from over. In the coming weeks, I’ll be hosting town halls and community meetings to discuss our accomplishments and hear directly from you. I encourage you to attend, ask questions, and share your thoughts on what we should focus on next.

Your engagement—whether through emails, phone calls, or conversations—has been invaluable. Representing District 26 is an honor, and I’m grateful for the trust you’ve placed in me.

I look forward to staying in touch and working together to build an even stronger community. Thank you for the opportunity to serve!
