2025 General Session: Week 5

Hello, District 26!

I hope you had a wonderful Presidents Day weekend! With just a few weeks left in the 2025 Legislative Session, I wanted to share some exciting updates on the progress of several key bills I’ve been working on.

I’m proud to report that four of my bills have successfully passed through the House and are now on their way to the Senate. HB195, Firearm Retention Amendments, reinforces our commitment to responsible firearm ownership while protecting Second Amendment rights. HB392, Unlicensed Driver Amendments, enhances accountability to those who drive without a driver's license; HB271 Meeting or Procession Disruption Amendments, which protects 1st Amendment rights of free assembly; and HB294, Infectious Disease Procedure Amendments which protects our most vulnerable and provides accommodations to those with special needs.

Week 5 Legislative Update

In addition, we’re making progress on several other important bills. HB143, Firearms Safety AmendmentsHB432, Tabacco and Electronic Cigarette Amendments, and HB476, the School Meals Debt Relief Fund, have passed their respective committees and now will go to the House floor. Additionally, I’ve also introduced HB526, the Government Records Access and Management Amendments, which enhances transparency by improving how public records requests are handled.

As the session continues, I remain focused on policies that strengthen our communities and ensure good governance. Your input is invaluable, and I encourage you to reach out with any questions, concerns, or thoughts on the legislation we’re working on.

Thank you for staying engaged—I appreciate the opportunity to represent you.

Matt MacPherson
Representative, House District 26

Capitol Highlight
I love getting to see all the field trips and school groups who come to tour the Capitol! It's great to chat with them, answer their questions, and see the Capitol through their eyes.
